Each year the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) delivers a series of talks and lectures in schools across Scotland. These talks are FREE, curriculum-linked and available at any point throughout the school year.
Our speakers are experts in their fields and cover a range of subject areas, from Science to English Literature to Art and History. Many are willing to work with the teachers to tailor their talk to areas most relevant to class curriculums, and to different age-groups and class sizes.
These events are FREE to schools! The RSE will cover all speakers' costs, including travel and accommodation. All the school needs to provide is a venue for the talk, and of course the audience! Teachers are also asked to supervise the students during the talk and provide feedback after the event.
Here you will find a copy of our school talks programme and application form. In this programme will get a flavour of just some of the speakers we have available, along with their lecture topics. However, if there is something in particular you would like to hear about, we will endeavour to find a speaker to suit.
The talks which have taken place have been located in a variety of areas throughout Scotland some examples include - Aberdeenshire, Elgin, Lochaber, Glasgow and even the Shetland Islands!
If you want to book a school talk for your own school or want to find out more, just contact a member of the education team for more information.
