With the support of partner bodies, and its own funds, the RSE provides funding to support research programmes in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) disciplines.

RSE Personal Research Fellowships

The RSE Personal Research Fellowship Scheme aims to provide outstanding researchers, who have the potential to become leaders in their chosen field, with the opportunity to build an independent research career.

NB. The CRF and Scottish Government Personal Research Fellowships no longer exist as standalone schemes. They are now part of the RSE Personal Research Fellowship Scheme.

Undergraduate Summer Vacation Research Scholarships in the field of Astronomy.

Cormack Small Astronomy Outreach Grant

The Robert Cormack Bequest Committee is able to make Small Outreach Grants to individuals or groups for Public Understanding of Science activities. 

John Moyes Lessells Travel Scholarships

John Moyes Lessells Travel Scholarships, enabling honours or higher degree engineering graduates of Scottish Universities to study some aspect of their profession outwith the United Kingdom.

Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland Research Studentships

Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland Research Studentships fund independent research on the causes and effects of the ageing process including the medical, psychological, sociological or economic consequences of old age with the purpose of improving the quality of life.

Henry Dryerre Scholarship

For postgraduate research in medical or veterinary physiology. This award is administered for the Society by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.
