Research and the Referendum

Posted 05/08/2014

The discussion at the University of Glasgow on 24 July was an opportunity for RSE Fellows and members of the Young Academy to hear from and discuss with The Rt. Hon. Dr Greg Clark MP, the newly-appointed UK Minister for Universities, Science and Cities, research funding in the context of the independence debate. The Minister was joined by his predecessor, The Rt. Hon. Mr David Willetts MP, for the discussion session.

The report of the Minister’s presentation, and of the subsequent discussion is available from here.

The meeting followed the event at the RSE in June, at which Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russell MSP, discussed the Scottish Government’s proposals for supporting Higher Education research in the context of the Referendum debate.

The report of that meeting as well as an RSE statement on Research Funding and the Referendum is available from here.
