RSE Council Statement on Research and the Referendum

Posted 13/08/2014

In June 2014, a discussion was held at the RSE, introduced by a speech from Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong learning, Michael Russell MSP on research funding in the context of the independence debate.

Following that discussion the RSE issued a statement on Research Funding and the Referendum.

In July 2014, a further discussion was held at the University of Glasgow, with The Rt. Hon. Dr Greg Clark MP, the newly-appointed UK Minister for Universities, Science and Cities, on the same topic. The Minister was joined by his predecessor, The Rt. Hon. Mr David Willetts MP, for the discussion session.

In the light of that discussion, the RSE issued an updated statement on Research Funding and the Referendum.
