Natural Science Foundation of China visit RSE to explore collaboration
International collaboration between researchers in Scotland and China was explored at workshops held at the RSE during 20-22 October. Participants working in marine science, with a focus on biodiversity, presented their work and toured the Sea Mammal Research Unit in St Andrews.
The workshops were used to share details about the recently-established RSE-NSFC Joint Project Scheme, which supports a two-year research project and is specifically aimed at enabling collaboration between researchers in Scotland and China. These awards are intended as seed funding to enable further collaboration and financing in the future.
The RSE provides up to £6,000 per year for international travel and subsistence, including research expenses, through the scheme. The NSFC provides a similar level of funding to the Chinese counterpart.
The next closing date for applications is Friday 5 December 2014. Further details and application forms are available on our Funding pages.
