The Education (Scotland) Bill

Posted 21/05/2015

The RSE Education Committee has responded to the call for evidence from the Scottish Parliament’s Education and Culture Committee on the provisions of the Education (Scotland) Bill.

The RSE is of the view that the Scottish Government needs to clarify its strategic approach in relation to the purpose and aims of the Bill in addressing the attainment gap. The Bill does not propose how a reduction in inequality might effectively be achieved.

The RSE reinforces the need for the commissioning of professional research and evaluation to provide an evidence base of what works and to track developments over time.
