RSE responds to call for evidence on human rights
The Royal Society of Edinburgh has submitted a response to the European and External Relations Committee’s call for evidence on human rights. The response noted the preliminary nature of the discussion as no draft proposals for a “British Bill of Rights” are yet available to examine.
The paper also stressed that, while the RSE is broadly supportive of enshrining the fundamental rights of the people of the UK in a Charter of Rights, it could only support such legislation if, at a minimum, all of the protections currently in place were maintained.
