The Renewable Energy Sector in Scotland
The Royal Society of Edinburgh has submitted evidence to inform an inquiry by the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee into the renewable energy sector in Scotland.
The RSE Advice Paper stresses the importance of the renewable energy sector to Scotland, noting that it draws in over £1 billion of investment, provides 21,000 jobs, and plays a key role in helping the UK meet climate change targets. Renewable energy is also responsible for 39% of Scotland's electricity generation mix.
