Air Passenger Duty
The Royal Society of Edinburgh has responded to a consultation put out by the Scottish Government on a Scottish Replacement for Air Passenger Duty (APD).
The RSE submission expresses reservations over whether the proposed reduction in the rate of APD in Scotland by 50% would play any significant role in improving connectivity or strengthening the economy.
The paper also stresses the efficiency of APD in raising revenue for government and the important role the tax plays as an environmental tax on carbon emissions.
