The Supply of Science and Mathematics Teachers
The Royal Society, the Advisory Committee for Mathematics Education, the Association of Science Education, the Institute of Physics, the Royal Society of Biology, the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal Society of Edinburgh have submitted a joint response to the UK Migration Advisory Committee to inform their review of teacher supply.
The joint response, which covers Scotland and the UK, provides evidence to support the continued inclusion of chemistry, mathematics and physics teachers on the shortage occupation list. It also suggests that computing should be added to the list. The response considers future as well as current shortages and the factors that will affect the ability of the education sector to respond.
