Scotland's Digital Infrastructure

Posted 02/02/2012

The RSE has welcomed the Scottish Government's 'Scotland's Digital Future - Infrastructure Action Plan' which sets ambitious goals to deliver world-class broadband infrastructure for Scotland by 2020.

The plan recognises the need for an open access core infrastructure in Scotland, as called for in the RSE's 2010 report Digital Scotland, that is crucial to delivering next generation broadband to every community in Scotland.

The RSE looks forward to publication of detailed plans that will set out how the Scottish Government intends to deliver on its aims, but highlights that the Government and its partners must get action underway as soon as possible if commitments are to be met.

More details can be found in the briefing note prepared for MSPs ahead of the debate on the Action Plan in Parliament on Thursday 2 February.
